45OUT (pronounced "SHOUT") was inspired by the immediate images of my old childhood record players that came to me when I heard the number "45". The experience of collecting music for the first time and playing records was a defining period of discovery, inspiration, freedom, and adventure. For the first time I decided what I liked and what I wanted to listen to, and there were no boundaries or guidelines imposed on me. The same freedom of choice and power of expression are essential to all grass roots political and rights movements, like these important same-sex law reforms. When I spun the "45" around like a record, it became the "SH" complimenting "OUT" in my call to action: "SHOUT."
