Just like a nest which provides an environment of support and protection for the young, so too, the historic changes to the parenting laws means same-sex parents have the same support and protection in their role as parents as everyone else. This law delivers the security and recognition that will allow same-sex parents the freedom to get on with the hardest job of all - parenting.

I am proud of these law reforms. Proud that my country is finally moving in the right direction. Proud in the knowledge that should I wish to have children of my own, I will be legally recognised.
